I can understand your frustration, but putting the info in such a lengthy post makes recovering it difficult.

Dell's BIOS flash programs are in a universal format these days.  I gather you're having trouble with the usual process of clicking on the file because it won't allow you to add a parameter.  Did you try opening a command prompt and typing the path/name of the flash file to see if you can add the parameter and run it that way?  Another way you can accomplish the update requires that you have a functional DVD/CD ROM drive and the Dell Resource CD.  You must copy the flash update file to a CD before beginning.  When you have done that, insert the Dell Resource CD into the drive and boot from it.  This disk boots to DOS.  Once you have the diagnostic screen in front of you, examine the various drop down menus and find the selection that allows you to exit to a DOS prompt.  Once you have that, remove the resource CD and insert the CD that you have written the flash file to.  Execute the file along with any parameter you wish to use by typing the full name of the file followed by the parameter.
