well if i have to redo the whole windows no matter if i F-12 or not then why bother running the test? cuz you say either way i have to redo windows xp so why do a 2 hr test? well thanks anyway i hope this answer came frome a dell coputer specialist!!!:emotion-10:
if you get into safe mode, go to windows reged and export your reg file to usb or install to harddrive folder away from windows, then get a dell window disk ( you dont have to put in serial and reinstall

Start with an extended hard drive diagnostic - F12 at powerup. Run the extended test - will take about 2 hours or so.
If the drive fails, replace it and reload Windows.
If the drive passes, likewise -- reload Windows.
