I have the Dell monitor connected to my HP Pavillion desktop, Windows 7 Premium 64. The web cam works in Skype, the touch screen control works. In general no problem other than the touchcam software will not install.
The touchcam software is where it can add effects in the webcam screen.
I am not sure why you think this is only for XP. I have another Dell Laptop, and when connecting to the Dell Laptop, the webcam software installed and runs fine. The Dell and HP machines are both running Windows 7 Premium.
It is the one that comes up with the message which approximately says "this software can only be installed on a Dell system."
I went "here" as you said. I already supplied most of that information to one of your support guys , Order number, 20 digit PPID , operating system etc. It was after that that they suggested I had to pay for support. Only thing they didnt ask was my graphics card which is an ATI 5450 and I was using the DVI port.
Do you have something else I can try which will get my webcam software installed in windows xp so that I can use the webcam?
Also the support guy I spoke to said I would be able to download Dell Touchzone application for use with my monitor but I have yet to find the download to achieve that. Could you also tell me how I can do that in Windows 7
I did indeed use the link for the driver. It was most certainly the right one for XP
Heres the funny thing though.
I was having problems over another issue entirely with my computer so I ended up reformatting my c drive and doing a completely clean new install of Windows XP.
Then I tried to install the webcam driver. Got the message that "this software will only work on Dell systems"
When I got your last post I checked again the driver. Went to the link checked the number . it was same driver I downloaded last time. So just I guess in desperation I ran it again (definitely without downloading it again) from the copy I already had on my hard drive.
This time IT WORKED !
I now have the webcam working on my xp installation.
I have no idea why but at last it works.
Can you now help me to get your Dell touchzone software downloaded and installed on my windows 7 installation please?
Kevbird, What happens when you install the Touchscreen Driver and Tools?
PP on the run, The XP question was for Kevbird. In Windows 7, did you attempt to install them in this order rebooting after each one? (Driver, Touch Cam, Touchscreen)
There are no touchscreen driver and tools for xp are there?
Certainly they arent listed under the drivers for xp dropdown for my monitor (SX2210T)
Unless perhaps you can point me at another location?
I had assumed I should be able to use the built in webcam in xp but not the touchscreen as xp (unless its the tablet version) does not support touchscreens does it?
Am I mistaken?
all the functionality, webcam, touchscreen face recognition etc all work fine in windows 7 for me

It sounds like everything is connected correctly. It should work. I would test it on another PC and see if the same issue occurs.

This is the only SX2210T XP Touch Cam download. is that what you tried to load in XP?
Go here. Look at the very first post announcement, "My monitor doesn't have a service tag number? How do I get service...".

Now I am confused. I know it works in all Windows operating systems. Below are all of the Windows 7, which ones loaded successfully on your HP box?
Windows XP Touch Cam
Windows Vista Touch Cam
Windows Vista Facial Recognition Application
Windows Vista Touchscreen Driver and Tools
Windows 7 Touch Cam
Windows 7 Facial Recognition Application
Windows 7 Driver

I have exactly the same problem
I have dual boot PC
The software installs fine on the Windows 7 drive I run but will not install on my XP drive
I get exactly the same message
Also I was told by Dell that when purchasing this monitor I would be able to install the Dell touch software package
This too will not install
The Dell support guys have not been very helpful with either issue
thanks

I gave up on trying to load the software and hoping it would work on non-Dell computers.
In the future, I will try not to buy Dell Monitor if I intend to use it with non-Dell computers.
