Thank you, but I am afraid you have misunderstood me. I was referring to the Radeon ATI 9000 mobility video card and not the 9600 nor 9700 nor 9800. The 9000 series is/was a special card that only handles DirectX 8.1 and DirectX 9.0b. The other cards that you are referring to are either PCI cards for a desktop or the M11 Radeon ATI 9700 mobility card. The 9700 card is the new one that the XPS laptop will have with 128 Meg's of RAM, but not the older models... at least to my knowledge. In fact the Radeo ATI 9000 mobility video card (also known as the M9... notice the Radeon ATI 7500 mobility card is referred to as the M7) was the standard card in Dell Inspiron 5150's for a while, along with some other models, but it was replace by the Nvidia NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 cards. That is the only type of card that a user can order now for the 5150.
Basically, I am looking for the document for Radeon ATI 9000 mobility (M9) video card that may or may not have been published at one point by Dell. I am hoping that the document is only hidden and that someone with the right link (i.e. someone who bought the card when they purchased their laptop from Dell) will publish it here. If you did buy the 9000 series card with your laptop and you can find the link... please, let us know what it is? Thanks in advance.
I looked all over in the stuff that came from Dell with my i8500 and didn't see a manual for the m9000. I didn't dig thru the Dell website, but it's not on any of the disks from Dell. Dunno!
Wow... that is a real bummer. I cannot believe that Dell would not provide something like that. Since you received the card with your PC, is there anyway that you might consider emailing Dell support over the web and asking them for the link or manual to be emailed to you? It might be worth a try and help us understand why Dell did not publish this. Thanks if you do decide to try.
Now that is weird. Why wouldn't you have anything on it? Does this have something to do with the fact that it was pulled for the Nvidia one? Also, can a user of a 5150 system use the Nvidia 1000 or Radeon 9700 in their systems? Shouldn't they fit and be the same size or are there issues with cooling, etc.? Thanks in advance.

The docs for the 7500 can be found at http://support.dell.com/systemdocumentation/index.aspx?category=8,56
Probably those for the 9600 aren't out yet...

Hello Rob in Texas,
Welcome to the Dell Community Forum,
I searched for documentation on the ATI9000 mobility vid card and on our training page for this video card we are referenced to ATI for more info.
Thanks,
