I think I have fixed the problem. It started to shut off today and I decided I would do some hardware troubleshooting. I took out the hard drive and the problem continued. Then I moved to the ram, the problem continued. Finally, I removed the wifi card from the laptop and I am now able to post this reply. I am still not sure if the problem is indeed the wifi card or the pci express ports on the motherboard. I bought an internal tv tuner a few months ago and couldn't even get my laptop to power up with it in there. I am now looking for the tv tuner, to try it without the wifi card in there. I am also going to take the wifi card out of my Mom's laptop and try putting it in mine to see if that works. I will keep this thread updated for the sake of other Vostro 1500 users in the future, It didn't seam like anyone was interested in this problem to begin with.

Well, now my power button does not work. I have to pull the battery out and put it back in to power on my laptop. It isn't restarting or powering off randomly anymore though. The tv tuner still does not work, but I have some hope for a replacement wifi card. Without one, a laptop is pointless.

The wifi card was not the problem, for some odd reason, taking the wifi card out of the laptop worked for some 4 or 5 hours. I am at a complete loss now, and am going to leave it alone for awhile before I get angry and throw it out my second story window. It could be anything, and I can't get anyone to help me with my problem. It does however seam to have something to do with the power. It usually starts to restart when the battery is fully charged. Its not the battery though, I just replaced it and have tried to use the laptop with both batteries with no avail. The power button is working again though, I'm not sure whats up with that. The most aggravating part is, I used my old Lattitude c600 for years and years with absolutely no problems besides replacing two batteries. Now my 3 year old Vostro 1500 has gone through a battery and is no longer functional. Makes you think about the current quality coming from Dell, which has always been my favorite brand. Maybe I will buy an Asus next, they have some impressive new laptops and some great feedback on the quality of their products. At least my Xps 410 is still working.
