Inspiron 6000 hard drive and battery light blinking orange

Question

Hi. My battery light has been blinking orange constantly for 2 days, though I rarely use the computer on battery and unplug it from the wall every night after shutting down. I assume from other posts that the battery is dead or nearly dead. I'm more concerned because the hard drive light is also blinking (or shuddering?) mostly orange, but also green. My hard drive failed within the first 3 years and was replaced under warranty by Dell. Could that light mean it's going again? If so, I need to get a lot of stuff off of this computer. Thanks for any information on that light.

It could, so make a backup immediately.  Then run a full hard drive diagnostic (F12 at powerup - the extended, NOT just the quick diags).
