Yes this is happening me too. Same machine as yours. Sometimes if I just rest my palms on the palm rest below the keyboard the space bar is activated. Did you get yours resolved??
Anyone out there?? Does anyone from Dell lurk these forums and respond?? How do I submit a trouble ticket? I keep going in circles using their website. The Navigation is a bit cumbersome. I expect to be able to click my service tag and have a link to submit a ticket for that machine. geeze!
I did get my issue resolved by getting a replacement laptop. I contacted Dell Customer Service, gave them my service tag info which pulled up my limited warranty info and they offered me to either a) have a tech come out to look at the laptop and replace the spacebar or, b) get a replacement laptop. I opted for b) seeing that this was a brand new, out of the box laptop and I didn't want to have a part replaced. In my case, the laptop was only a couple of days old back when I had it fixed. The interesting part about the process was that I was told that Dell was aware of issues with "oversensitive" spacebars. I haven't had a problem since this issue and just recently purchased another laptop (exact same model) for myself with no issues. Sorry took so long to respond and hope you get your issue resolved.
Thanks for getting back to me. I called Tech support prior to hearing from you. The tech insisted on gaining control of my computer remotely, so she had me download the remote access software. All that trouble just so she could uninstall my keyboard driver. I could have done that myself if she just asked me. I feel this is a mechanical issue and never thought it could be a driver issue.
Well, anyways, the reinstalling of the driver didn't help, it is acting up again.
During the tech call the space bar *seemed* to be behaving, but that is always the case - computer errors never act up in front of tech support.
So today it was going crazy again, so I got my camera out and video recorded a bunch of clips. I will go through them an post the most clearest one soon.
OK Here are some videos the best I can do with the camera I have and saving for the web
i know this is 100 years since this post was placed, but did you ever resolve the problem. This is the second dell keyboard i've purchased because i thought maybe it was the keyboard, but i'm still having the same problem. I'll look up and the last letter i typed as repeated itself for four lines
I have thesameproblem. I just opened the package andhe spacebar only moves ifIreally press downhard. Unfortunately, Iwas outofthe country and the short term warranty has expired.

Oh, and BTW,
I didn't bother with submitting a ticket as that process was a pain. I called Dell service support and spoke directly to a rep.

yep. my issue was resolved with a new keyboard. Mine being under warranty though, a tech came to my house and installed the keyboard himself.
Good luck.
