You must boot the system from the Windows CD or DVD.  With the disc in the drive, press F12 a few times after powerup and boot from the CD/DVD ROM drive in the menu that appears.

Test the CD/DVD in a different computer - if it boots check the CD/DVD drive in the first one.

If the same problem occurs, the CD/DVD might be damaged.

F6E9A,

While the Ultimate Boot CD has Disk Tools that allow you to fix the Master Boot Record, that only applies to fixing the boot sector of the hard drive.  It cannot fix the boot sector of a Windows 2000 CD which is read only.  Examine the the Windows 2000 CD.  It may have scratches in its boot sector area which is on the outer surface of the disk.  Original CDs can be polished if there are deep scratches on the disk.  This assumes of course that you are using an original and bootable Windows 2000 CD, and not a CD-R to which someone has copied the Windows 2000 files.

Hope this information helps.

F6E9A,

Go to the Easus Partition Software site: http://www.partition-tool.com/

Download the freeware version. Read the instructions on how to create a Bootable Easus Partition CD: http://www.partition-tool.com/easeus-partition-manager/bootablecd.htm

Make the bootable Easus Partition CD.  Boot your computer with the Easus Partition CD.  Create and format he partition(s) on your hard drive.

Boot with the Windows 2000 CD.  You should be able to install Windows 2000 with no problem.

Let us know how you fare.
