With most of these, using the dock requires flashing a Latitude BIOS. Unfortunately, the 8500 was never sold as a Latitude. The D800 Latitude is the same as the Inspiron 8600, but the BIOSes are NOT interchangeable (the 8500 used the old Pentium 4 CPU; the D800/8600 uses the newer Pentium M).
