Have you installed software that provides you with a virtual drive like alcohol?

In Computer, right click your optical drive>properties. Do you have a Recording tab present?

I am also experiencing this issue with my Alienware 15x DVD drive. No functionality at all and windows7 cant fix it. exactly the same message;

"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled.  An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"

Hi Paul,

Try these steps to fix this issue.

1. Run Microsoft Fix it using this link: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

2. Update the CD/DVD drive firmware available at the Dell support site.

If the issue is not resolved, run a custom scan on the CD/DVD drive using the PC check up from Dell Support Center.

Please reply with the results.
