Cursor jumps while typing on Inspiron 1545 laptop
Hello,
I too am experiencing the jumping cursor while typing in word, my blog, and e-mails. A support chat had me re-install the touchpad drivers. No joy. I've also changed the touchpad sensitivity to lightest (and hardest), again it did not fix the problem.
This is a huge issue in my mind. Does Dell Support have a legitimate fix? I never had this problem with my Latitude D540. I am a writer, so this is a very annoying problem.
Any help appreciated.

Very common problem. These pads are just too sensitive, and adjustments in the pad control panel don't help much.
Download TouchFreeze. It's free and works great. It shuts the pad down when you begin to type, and turns it back on when you stop. Works about 98% of the time.

Thanks Kirk. I downloaded and installed it, even though I have the 64 bit Windows 7 OS, which I'm not sure it's supported on. At first glance, it seems to be helping. I'll keep you posted as I work with it on. ANYTHING is better than what was happening.

Kirk,
It seems to be back to it's old ways of jumping randomly around during editing on a blog, word document or notepad. Maddening. Any help Dell Support? This laptop's only 3 months old.

You might want to search the web for a 64-bit program like TouchFreeze.
Also, I had some luck using an ALPS driver from the Toshiba web site. This driver had more options than the Dell.
