I installed the above last night and performed a scan. The results was clean. The quick scan took 3 minutes and 6second to complete.
I also performed a full scan out of curiosity. That took 26 minutes and 17 seconds and reported clean.
I did not register my product where I was requested to put in product key and not sure if I should do?
This morning I did a quick scan prior to commence my web browsing. I got a message to say Malwarebytes running...and the scan was clean.
Now I find on my IE9, when multiple windows are open, window lock ups. Unable to move from one window to another. This is especially with windows open with secure accounts that have password ect..
I wounder could this be due to my not registering or incompatibility with Win 7 x64? or the Malwarebytes trying to protect my system and in the process I feel I am being slowed down?
I have now restored to earlier time & going to try for few hours web browsing....and see how it goes.
1. Is it correct and better to register my details? This registration asks details about my product key ect...
Yes, register your product if you are using the paid version.
2.When I do a scan and for hypothetical discussion- I get on the scan report to suggest a spy ware found.. What should I then do? Will the MBAM automatically quarantine the offender or do I have to take any special measure to get rid of the offender?
Select to have MBAM Remove what it finds, unless you think it is a false positive and needs further investigation.MBAM will take care of the offender either immediately or on reboot.
As far as your IE9 problem, I doubt that it was caused by the MBAM scan. I am using Windows 7 64-bit and have not had any trouble with MBAM and compatibility. If you have issues with the program their support options are here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/contact.php .Their forums have a place to report problems and ask questions.
Sorry, I missed that it was the free version, unless that was included in the OP's edit. I don't have any free versions of MBAM installed so I can't compare.
Unless I just go through things automatically (since I trust MBAM), and unless I'm having a senile moment, I don't recall ever having to "register my details... my product key etc." for the free version of MBAM.
is that part of the installation process? part of the first run? or an option somewhere???

My IE9 browser window lock ups have ceased since then.
I do not know if any other have had similar experience following install of the Malwarebytes - When I downloaded the free version it was version 5363. Soon afterwards it was updated to version 6326.
Unless you have the paid version, MBAM does not run in the background trying to "protect the system". (That may be why I originally thought you had the paid version.) The free version performs manual scans only. Was your browser closed when you ran the scans? I've run hundreds of MBAM scans and have not had any browser lockups afterward.
Actually, the download is the same for the free and paid versions.
The difference is that, when you buy it, you're given an activation code (license/KEY) which, when you type it in to the registration area, activates the paid features.

Hello BUGBATTER,
I downloaded of the first link from your original sticky thread:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (Free and Paid Versions)
http://www.besttechie.net/mbam/mbam-setup.exe
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html
I do not know if that first is a paid version. I presume it was not because I wasn't asked for any payment details.
Anyway thank you for your thoughts on the subject and it is very much appreciated of your helpful& good posts
Perhaps I should download it again and see...
