Brand New Dell Inspiron Not Turning On

Question

I have today, just bought a brand new Dell Inspiron for £300 and it will not turn on at all! I just got it out of the box after getting home from buying it, plugged in the charger, and pressed the power button. The fan turns on and it sounds as if it was turning on, but the screen never turns on at all and after 2 seconds, the sound stops. If I listen closely, I can hear the laptop still, and the power light it turned on, but the screen is always off. After about 30 mins of leaving it as it was, the fan kicked in again for a minute, but it just went off again and nothing else has happened. It has never been turned on before, as I said its just out of the box, Windows hasn't even been set up or anything. Do I have to wait until it is fully charged (baring in mind I've had it on charge for about 4 hours now!) or is it a problem with the screen? Thanks for the help :)

No you don't have to wait. It should have worked right out of the box if it really was brand new. Return it.
