inspiron duo and duoStage
there is a way to have duostage run when in tablet mode. duostage is slow. I found another ui and would like to run that instead of duostage when in tablet mode. is this possible?

you most likely have to re-create it, just copy my text above past into a text file and save it as the .xml file that should take care of your issue. In note pad you must change it to "all Files" and then save it with the same name .xml and it will pull it from the directory.

did you make sure all the images were in the correct location and with the correct name as in the XML file?

Here is an example of my XML script to add an icon for OpenOffice I am going to move the image into Photoshop and make is a transparent background to make it look nice. i just copied the Internet explorer link and went from there editing and replacing text. Right Click the XML and open with Notepad to edit
WARNING: Knowledge of programming XML is necessary, also make sure to back up the file before editing just in case you mess it up. you can also just copy and paste mine if you mess it up, but it has open office...

I did a clean reinstall of Win 7 to Ultimate. I cant get the icons on Duo Stage. I have unziped the file that is suggested and that created my apps list xml file. However i am stil missing my icons when Duo Stage launches. Any help woud be greatly appreciated. I have instaled and uninstalled Duo Stage before and after creating this apps list file and still no solution.

just joined this community to get the question of no apps on tthe duo stage. i have read all the comments in this thread but having no real computer knowledge and just want an easy solution found all the answers way too hard to get working.have dell made this so complicated for a reason? surely some sort of click and drag option would be much better.
my dell had been restored so came with no duo stage and have no idea how to get it working even after downloading from dell website

YaTa!!!
I'm coming with some answers to those of you still searching for solution. Just typing from Duo with fresh install, that now has Duo Stage with all of those bloody icons.
Apparently some help here is misleading and pointing you to wrong direction. Don't be faked by the content of the file where it says %PROGRAM FILES% as this is where the apps are.
The correct path to place you Icons folder and apps_list.xml file is below:
C:\ProgramData\Dell\duo Stage\
The ProgramData folder is not visible in explorer by default and it's kind of derivative of Program Files but IT IS NOT THE SAME ! Under Program Files you have the application and all other jazz, but in Data I have now only the stuff from Dell .zipx file and all original icons are there and launch correct programs. BTW. I also signed up my Duo into My Dell Downloads, the place where all those apps can be acquired from, including their updated and perhaps faster versions.
So once again a quick guide-through for those who come to this post only:
1. Download the Dell Duo Stage application from My Dell Downloads (needs Dell account) at:
https://smartsource.dell.com
or perhaps....
www.fileserve.com/.../duoStage_1.0.0.10.exe
2. Install the application using all default settings
3. You will need all the other apps as well like MusicStage, VideoStage and PhotoStage + BookStage if you want. All of those can be found at Dell website. If had time one day, can upload them to external storage as well.
4. Go to: support.dell.com/.../document
and use the link at the bottom of page to download the xxx.Duo Stage.zipx (PS. you will need WinZip for it as zipx is proprietary format)
5. Extract the contents into: C:\ProgramData\Dell\duo Stage\ (if can't see this folder, just copy and paste this into Explorer's address bar)
6. Right-click on your TaskBar and select "Start Task Manager" , under ImageName find duoStage.exe and select it, then click End Task in bottom right corner of window. Close Task Manager.
7. Open the Duo Stage in prefered way and check if icons are there.
Voila !
PS1. Go to Page 1 of this thread to find out how to add you own/more icons into Stage
PS2. graffixnyc - I'm sorry to post it under here, but this was the only place I found that had any answers for this problem. I also was trying to put all that data to Program Files (which looks very similar when you read fast) and ended up with no icons and some frustration. Good luck with finding alternatives. IMHO I would write a webpage using CSS/php and made my Stage a single-window Google Chrome.

For those still having trouble with the Duo Stage application or looking for an alternative, here is what a technician did for me today. Go the the Dell Drivers and Downloads section. Under the the "No" column after "Do you have your Service Tag or Express Service Code?" select "Choose from a list of all Dell Products" and click "Continue." On the next page, under "Select your product type," choose "Desktops." On the next page, choose "Inspiron"; then on the next page, choose "Inspiron One 2305." You should then see a list of all files for that computer. Select Windows 7 64-bit as the operating system (yes, I know the Duo is 32-bit, but that's OK). Click the down arrow to the left of Applications. Then download and install FINGER-TAPPS_STAGE-FRAMEWORK_STAGE-FR_R291066.exe (14MB) under Finger Tapps-Application. That will give you an interface called Dell Stage (not Duo Stage) that has more choices than Duo Stage. It worked on my Inspiron Duo that had lost the icons in Duo Stage. If your Duo Stage is working, you can still have this one as an alternative. It will not interfere with Duo Stage. In the settings, you can choose whether to have it load on start up.

Thanks to previous post I managed to change the applications in duo stage to get them to launch what I wanted!! So thanks a lot for that, it had been annoying me so much! Now, when I start the computer, it says "impossible to analyse the configuration file of duo stage application" or something like this (mine is not in English). But everything in the duo stage is working the way I want... So why do I get that message? How to remove it, as everything is working? I doubled check the xml file and there is no "spelling mistake"

in step 6 does not find duo stage in "Start Task Manager" does not appear, what can I do?
