Can you mix/match parts between a Dimension 4400 and 4300 ?
I am trying to create a working PC for my son from two old PC's: a Dell Dimension 4300 SFF and a 4400 Tower. For space concerns I'd like to retain most of the 4300. The 4300 has a 1.5ghz CPU and the 400 has a 2.0ghz CPU. Are the 2 systems compatible for me to swap CPU's? I intend to reistall XP as well, if it matters. They appear to use the same RAM.

Are you using the 4300S motherboard, or the 4400 Mini Tower motherboard.
Both the Dimension 4300S and 4400 only support P-4, 478-pin, 400MHz, 256kb L2 cache, processors, so you should be fine.

You need to check that the latest BIOS version is installed, before install the new processor.
