R230103.exe has the full application required and you're system is listed as compatible.

Here is some other useful information (links will take you to the drivers).

Did you do a clean install of Windows 7 x64? If so the drivers are available on the Dell Drivers and Downloads Page.

Ensure that you install the drivers in the correct order see here.

You may also have some additional software in My Dell Downloads (use 32 bit Internet Explorer on that site).

Dell Support Centre is also free to get and quite useful.

Get Dell Dock if you want also.

Once you have installed the above install the Dell Webcam Centre (I don't know why there is no link to R230103.exe on the drivers and download page).

Enjoy full functionality of your system and check out the list of software I mention below, most are free and very useful.

Edit you may need R272748 <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>(Skype 4.2) or alternatively to download the latest version of skype before installing the webcam software. I prefer version 4.2 because I find the newer versions more buggy and this is the last version of skype with no adverts.

While not ideal here is a Windows Vista x64 driver for a slightly different Dell system (Studio 1440) see if it works. It says it is compatible with XP, Vista x32 and Vista x64. Usually if it works with Vista x64 it will work for 7 x64.

If not here is the XP Driver <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> for your system, try it. It says it is only XP, however if the other one done XP and Vista x64, this might too.

By the way do you have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Installed? It may include the driver software.

If the first driver says this is not a Dell System then it won't let you install it  at all and you will have to try the second. If the first and/or second one says Operating System not supported, then right click the file and go to properties and then compatibility, select run this program in compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3. Then run it again.

Try installing the Webcam software after (the download link you just tried). Note once installed, press [windows] and the [pause|break] buttons go to device manager, look for the webcam and click update driver, see if it finds a better one online.

Jesse that is the link I first gave Kapil R230103.exe It didn't work without the driver.

We need the Windows 7 x64 driver equivalent of R229821.exe.

The Dell Webcam Centre should install fine after it.

kapil7,

Wish there was a solid solution that works for Dell Webcam Central and Windows 7 but some work and some don't. I am actually beginning to believe that the issue is with Windows 7 and webcams. I have read other posts about webcams being missing on other brands, also.

Try downloading the Dell Webcam Central Image Burn the image to a DVD.

Also try reading...

kapil7,

Things I heard, some have worked.

Open and close the lid, then try.

Lightly squeeze the lip near the webcam.

Maybe Jesse can suggest something but he's off work, today.

Actually hold off deassembling your computer and try this first.

Power down your computer. Hold F2 as you power your computer up, enter the BIOs setup, see if there is a way of disabling the internal webcam from here. (I have never had an internal cam so I don't even know if this option exists). Then load windows for a couple of minutes. Then power down, hold F2 while powering up and enable the webcam.

If this BIOs option exists, it will save deassembling your computer essentially doing the same thing a software way opposed to a hardware way.

If it doesn't exist Jesse may be able to see if a BIOs update can be made to do this particular if this is becoming a common problem?

Okay in the device manager if you tell it to scan for hardware changes, does anything happen?

Also judging by the fact that either the Dell Webcam Software or Windows 7 is meant to obtain the driver, you should technically have the driver already on your system. It seems just not to be recognising the cam. In this case I would unplug the cam, boot up and then power down and replug in the cam.

Because your cam is internal and not USB it requires a little more work. If you have the right tools, a small cross head screwdriver and a small flathead screw driver and carefully follow the instructions here <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> then you should be able to remove your camera. Rebuild your computer. Power up and load Windows for a couple of minutes. Replace your camera. Rebuild your computer. Load Windows.

And hopefully get, Windows has detected a new device... Webcam installed...
