If both fans failed at the same time, the overwhelming odds are that it's a mainboard problem. Open the system and see if the fans rotate freely -- if they're bound up or grind when turned, they could be bad.

I've opened up the system and they both move freely and are free of dust so I'm gonna go along with what you said and guess its the motherboard.
