You can buy the drive from wherever you'd like - you need a standard, 2.5" 9.5 mm or slimmer SATA notebook drive.

how do i tell if its slimmer or not?

As long as the drive you buy is 9.5 mm or slimmer, you're all set. The high-capacity (1 TByte) drives are 12.5 mm - these won't fit.
