There won't be any BIOS settings for serial ports connected by USB.  The hardware is handled by the drivers.

Be sure that you've installed converters that support the devices you want to connect - there are two types of USB to serial adapters -- the lower cost ones don't have true UARTs on them, which many devices need.

Further, since the OS is 64-bit, be sure your serial port devices have 64-bit drivers -- 32-bit drivers won't work.

These devices work perfectly on a Dell 32 bit Win Vista laptop I own. The XPS Win 7 is 64 bit but the 64 bit capability of the drivers has been verified. One device, an Accupel DVG-5000 video pattern generator, is connect directly with a male to male usb  cable, and like I said, works on my other laptop.

Are you using the USB 2 ports, or the USB 3.0 ports?

Which is which? Anyway, I tried all five ports uninstalling the drivers before each new connection. Same result every time.

I did a search on the hard drive for one of the three drivers and found it all over the place. There are, for the most part, two different size files even though they are dated the same. Is one a 32 and the other 64?
