Hello. Have you tried the workaround in the Choppy/Skipping Audio Workarounds FAQ?

Yes I have tried those fixes and the only one that works is disabling the wireless card. I am using an internet application requiring the wireless card, so disabling is not an option. Thanks for the suggestion. I just cannot believe that Dell simply ignores this problem.

If you are under extended warranty get Dell to replace the card. If not, they do not cost much. Maybe someone on the Networking/Internet/Wireless Board can tell you which Intel card you need.

If the solutions like disabling the "a" band and Vista anti lag did not work and you must have wireless, then you should try a different brand of card, probably Intel, not Broadcom.

It is frustrating as I have had this problem since I had the laptop. Dell's support answer was always the same, reformat the hard drive. I used to disable the wireless when I needed audio, but now I that I need audio and internet...........

I just came across a post from 2008, where the owner did not have the option to turn off the "a" band, but using Vista Anti Lag worked.

Here is a tip I found for XP but don't know if it works;  the XP equivalent is to disable the Wireless Zero Configuration Service. Go to Start/Run and type "services.msc" then hit the 'Enter' key (or click 'ok'). The Services window will appear and you can disable the service.

Thanks once again. It didn't work either.   :-(   Too bad Dell just doesn't have an answer. Thank  you.

Hi,

I saw your post and thought I would try and communicate with you.

I just bought a Gateway laptopabout a month ago and am having the same problem that you are (sound skipping with wrieless on)..  I've sent it back two times already and they sent it back to me with the same problem (so far they replaced the speakers and the motherboard).  If you receive any new information pertaining to this annoying problem, let me know and I will do the same.

Thanks
