Hello Ajlax711,

In order to assist you, please help me with the following details:

  • What is color of the power LED?
  • Were there any recent hardware or software changes made on the computer?
  • Did you try powering on the computer only with the battery connected or only with the AC Adapter connected?

Please write back with the details.

The power LED is White

No recent hardware changes and no recent major software changes. The only software changes would be standard updates

I tried powering on the computer with out the ac adapter connected and with it connected. I tried with and without the battery. I tried to remove the battery and do a power drain.

I took a video of the problem but the file size is over the 64 KB limit for the forum. I can email to you if that would help.

Thanks

Hello Ajlax711,

According to the video, the power button stays lit and it is solid white. Hence I would request you to try connecting an external monitor to the computer and check if you get display on the external screen.

I would also request you to run the PSA Diagnostics. In order to initiate the PSA diagnostics, turn off the computer; press and hold the FN key and at the same time press the power button. This would inoke the PSA Diagnostics which would also check the functionality of the LCD.

Please write back with your findings.

Hello Alec,

It appears to be a hardware failure. Please consider replacing the motherboard.
Does the computer have an active warranty? You can check the warranty status
here (Enter the service tag, click submit and check for the warranty status). In case of expired warranty scenario, we would not be able to extend warranty entitled services. If the warranty on the computer has expired, you may contact our Expired Warranty Services (this is for US based customers).
