I just ordered my Radeon M9 ATI 9000 mobility graphics card with 64 Meg's of RAM from Dell spare parts in the US. Have you tried to see if you can order it from here and have them ship it over seas? Do you have the phone number and the part number to do the ordoer? If not, let me know. I will help.
Thanks Rob but the cost of the call to the US would be pretty expensive from Ireland. but to answer your question I don't have either the phone number or the part number.
I really want to get this upgrade as newer games are starting to suffer on my 64-bit 32mb ram, especially since i originally paid for this upgrade but didn't get it.
We'd all love a 128mb but this ain't gonna happen! :)
My only question for you is, "Did you pay with a credit card?" If yes, then you could have immediately disputed it through them, received a credit, and have basically told Dell that the computer is sitting here in my living room waiting for you to pick it up. If not, then I would have bugged and bugged them again and again. Do you have the order still? Does it show the 64 Meg ATI card? Can you provide them the screen shots of the Dell website where it says current configuration and original cofiguration? They should at this point be able to send out a technician to replace the old graphics card with a new one. Also, you should be escalating this through the sales, technical help, etc. via emails and phone calls. I would have not have stood for this. This is not only a rip off of $75 (perhaps, more when you ordered it), but it is also a rip off of power that you need. I would post notes on this website, email customer service, technical service, etc. Make it more expensive for them to deal with you, than to just fix their error. Perserverance will pay off, especially when you know you are right and fully justified.
On that note here is the info that you did not have:
Part # Y0708
Phone # 1-800-234-9999 parts number ext. 69938

Yes i payed by credit card, i have the order and i have the proof of the webpage when i ordered it. I've already dealt with customer support and technical support but i'm sick of it at this stage. The problem was that i didn't realise it was a 32mb radeon until a few days after the 30 after i purchased the system so Dell were not willing to send me out the graphics card i bought and was entitled to. So now I'm stuck with 32mb now. And what's worse is that they no longer sell graphics cards from spare parts in my country.
As regards the numbers you provided me, thanks. Is there any chance you also have the Geforce fx 5200 part number/ I'm not sure which to go for. I'm presently playing X-2: The Threat alot and it runs better on Geforce cards and i'm lured to the Dx9 features of the 5200, poor as they might be.
If someone was able to buy the card for me and send it to me i would gladly send them the cost of calls, postage and card, and possible a thank you bonus!
