I have also a problem....I bought a Dell inspiron n5110 notebook (4Gb RAM-i5 processor)2 weeks ago, on 15 October 2011 (it was a bad decision), the same day,it began freezing... Intel Turbo Boost Monitor rises to 2.90 Ghz, and freezes... I contacted the seller, they didn't care. I contacted DELL support, they accepted the problem and last week they changed the mainboard and the Hard Drive, but the notebook repeats freezing. it freezes 2-3 time in an hour for 1-5 minutes... The seller told me to use the FN + F2 combination to shut the bluetooth and the wireless connection, if I do it, the Turbo Boost monitor descreases from 2.90Ghz to "0 Ghz".. My question is, can anyone in this forum using a Dell help me to fix my problem? Any idea? Because today I called Dell again (its the 4. time), they told me that they can change the notebook with a new one but it takes between 4-6 weeks. It is a long time.... I need to use this notebook because of my writings. So if anyone knows why this happenes, and the solution, please contact me. Thanksssssss.....
OK guyz no need to worry, i had the same problem then i came up with a brilliant idea. This is totally our fault that this notebook gets stuck for hours. on your notebook keyboard you'll see three buttons on top right corner. press the setting button with two gears on it, this will oper windows mobility centre. Now on battery status tab select option high performance. TADA! your notebook would work perfectly now. even in balanced mode it'll stuck for a while.
If it works, you will tell me: "Decrease screen brightness and use it with high performance" :))) I feel it :))) I hope that it will be a temporary solution :) I adjusted HIGH PERFORMANCE... Let's see...
Thanx a lot, I 'll try it ... But I don't think that it works. Couse if u r right, it means the DELL TECHNICIANS don't understand anything about notebooks... Dell should train them better. (They changed first my HARD DRIVE, than the MAINBOARD... Are they crazy, If it is such simple...???) I travvel much. If I continiously use High Performance, it goes just 2 hours and not more.... Why do I buy a notebook than ??? By the way, I'm sorry but what do you exactly mean with "This is totally our fault ", Whose Fault???? Are u a user or DELL responsible? Is it my fault to use it with ENERGY SAVING MODE ??? So why did Dell give us options to use it in 3 different modes??? If it is Dell 's fault, than they should accept it, I DON'T accep that it is (my) OUR FAULT. (Though it doesnt matter any more cause I applied to the consumer court )
well it did worked for me. i had this notebook stucked ever since i bought it (around 1 month). then i came up with this solution this thing is working like a charm. I am now able to run games of low demand such as devil may cry 4 etc. by our fault i meant that we should have opt for lattitude or xps series in dell models. they are for professionals, tested in professional environments. and about dell techniicians they sucks in their job, of course i dont want to tell you about customer care near our place. yeah theyre crazy!!
sorry mate but u'll have to switch to xps or lattitude then... and dont ever come back on this inspiron series... and just for general knowleddge the inspiron 15R is on NO. 3 in the top 10 laptops/notebooks of 2011... Peace :emotion-21:
Inspiron 3. place... DELL should be in first place than in whole brands:))) 1.Dell 2.MacBook 3. Sony 4.Toshiba etc. :DDD Dell inspiron is the worst China product my friend... Even the cover... The battery is moving, I asked the techn., he said that it is normal :))) Maybe in summer time, when it is warm here in Turkey, it 'll grow and won't move :DDDDDDDDDD
hello everyone. i have same problem with the i7 version of n5110. but it freezes completly. i need to puss the power button till the bios shuts down the laptop for it to close. it worked perfectly for 3 months and last month it started doing this. i keep it on balanced for now and it hasnt fixed the problem. the freezes are fewer but is stil anoing. when i use it at its full potential it works perfectly but on low load of cpu/video etc it freezes. doesnt any1 know how to fix this.(except the high performance thing wich drains the battery very fast? :) thx all

Hi Tudor,
So this is what i get when my laptop freezes which has done on a number of occasions now.:
Is this what people are speaking about? If so it would be great to get a steer on what is wrong.
Thanks,
Toby
