Welcome to the Community. I dont think you can, because the default device is selected as your LCD, and then when you press Fn + F8 it moves to the external monitor. I suggest you try changing the display option, by right click on your desktop, select properties, click on display, your try making the External monitor as the number 1 screen, and apply the changes.
I did try what you suggested. When I try to switch the external monitor to be the number 1 screen, it never shuts down the primary monitor (laptop screen). The option to de-select my laptop screen is shaded grey and is not available to unclick.
What typically happens is I have to use the FN + F8 option to move the screen to the external monitor. Quite often it is required at boot up to do this routine over again so that the resolution displayed on Teamviewer increases from 1200x800 to the external monitor's 1920x1080 resolution. If I restart the computer it does not stay at 1080 resolution. It drops back to 1200x800. Furthermore, when I fix the problem manually, it appears opening and closing the lid helps bring back the 1080.
After some Googling of this problem I realized there might be a solution to enter the BIOS and change the screen default to VGA, thus making the external monitor fire up and preserve the 1080 resolution. Unfortunately I have not been able to fix it using this method. I normally access this computer via Teamviewer and I am not always there to change the resolution back to 1080. In a perfect world the laptop screen would not be used as a default and the resolution would always stay at 1920x1080 when viewing remotely. :emotion-2:
