Could you please forward to Cypress that the german translation in the settings dialog is still ridiculous? I (or any other german user) would be happy to assist in the translation, if needed.
The latest driver was a small improvement, vertical scrolling using the scroll area indeed stops, if the finger is lifted from the pad. The version before took several seconds showing a heavily blinking scroll cursor with the pad being unusable in that time.
The new driver still has problems with vertical scrolling: it still is jerky, and it starts only about half a second after the finger starts moving. Immediately however, it moves the cursor until scrolling starts. This way your cursor gets further and further down the page only by scrolling - no good.
I suspect that the pad driver causes the disappearing cursor problem too (opsted in this forum), which in fact is a problem that the current window loses focus every 3 - 15 seconds.
I'd like to add that upon boot-up the trackpad does not reckognize that my bluetooth mouse is not connected and leaves me with no trackpad functions. However, if my mouse is connected and I turn it off, the trackpad activates rather promptly. Why can't things just work the way they are suppose to? I'd like to not have to use an external mouse all the time, hence the reason I bought this thing in the first place!
Just received my unit and could notice the abnormal CPU usage from the Cypress process immediately, to my disappointment, during the first hour of usage :(
Very bad in a €1600 machine (I took Full HD + SSD)...
I don't think you made the right choice. There hasn't been a dell response on this in quite some time. I gave up! I completely disabled the defunct track pad and use only a Bluetooth mouse. Problem with that is, from time to time Bluetooth devices get finicky and I'm left with no mouse. I have to plug in a wired mouse to reconnect with the Bluetooth. It really is a joke! I'm in IT classes at DeVry and have dissuaded several classmates and one of my professors from purchasing the 15z. Everybody asked me about it and I explained what a poor job Dell has done to correct a problem on one of their high end machines. Sorry Dell, but you think 6 months would be long enough to resolve the problem. And I see now that they are pushing the 14z much more. Something tells me they gave up on us!
We're so disappointed really. We'll take the weekend to think it over, but it looks like we'll have to just send it back next week. What disappoints is the seemingly total lack of concern on Dell's part. They don't really seem to monitor these forums much - nor seem in the slightest bit bothered about the damage to their reputation as a result. Maybe we have to turn to Apple and pay the extra for the service - but we don't know if that is any good once you've shelled out.
Good luck if you stick with yours. If we find a solution that works easily and quickly - or Dell promise one very soon we might reconsider...
Shocking issue. I don't understand why Dell insist on pre-loading their computers with all this crapware. They could at least offer a clean install option where you get Windows and nothing else. I spent a day removing everything. Will probably rebuild the entire laptop at some point.
Anyways, you can permanently disable that process from msconfig (instructions below). I tried doing the same CyCpIo one but my right click stopped working so I've left that running for now.
What makes it even worse is that the multi touch functionality didn't even work in the first place.
Start > msconfig > Startup > uncheck 'Cypress MTG and APA Trackpads'
Just updated to the latest Driver posted by Dell Terry in the Original ""never really shut down" discussion. Seems to be the answer to our problems so far!:emotion-2:

Same problem here. I'm not sure that if problem maybe may be the culprit, they lose focus of ventamas, something very annoying when you're working.
I hope the new drivers solve this too.

Hi Terry
I persuaded my wife to buy the XPS 15 z instead of the macbook pro. I don't hope to regret the decision. We received it Tuesday 11 Nov.
Apart from the issue of the jumping key all seems well so far.
I've read the forum postings. We are not techies. We just would like it to work :)
a. can you tell us who is on the case of fixing this - Dell or cypress?
b. can you post an update on when the problem will be fixed?
I plan to put in a call to the management team at Cypress in the USA later today to ask:
a. are they aware of reputational damage to themselves and..
b. to Dell
c. to those of us who used to use Dell for many many years and gave up and...
d. who bought again on the basis of rave reviews for the xps 15 z
I hope I won't need to put in that call to Cypress. I see no other solution right now.
Thanks for your help Terry,
best
Simon

I have to kill the Cypress service hog every reboot, otherwise it's using 10% of my CPU and overheating the laptop.
Please, please fix this driver.

CPU usage is down to about ~1.3-1.4%.
It is a mediocre solution. While tolerable, I wouldn't call this problem fully answered until it gets closer to 0% as with other trackpads.
To add to the problems with this Cypress trackpad, multi-finger gestures are all jerky. Almost unusable.
