EgorAnd,

Try installing the drivers in order and see if that helps. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Thank you, Rick! I haven't succeeded to install Windows yet, I'm prompted to install some kind of drivers. I've created a CD with all N5110 drivers I've found on the official site, but still Windows can't find what it needs there.

Rick, it was bought with no OS... so I guess they can't have created them.

Egorand, you may wish to try downloading a Windows 7 .iso (7 Professional 64 bit) file as listed in my guide and creating a bootable USB from it (as mentioned in the guide). See if that resolves the issue, try one of the ones with the Service Pack 1 included. Note you will need another Windows computer to make the bootable USB and a USB stick of 4 GB or more. Follow the guide (it should tell you everything in depth from start to finish).

If that fails post back.

Try downloading 7zip (use the 32 bit .msi file on a 32 bit OS or the 64 bit .msi file on a 64 bit OS). Copy the .iso file on the desktop (of a Windows computer). Right click it and select 7zip then extract to c:\desktop\iso file name. (Alternatively copy your windows disc to a folder on the desktop). The .iso file will be better because it will have the Service Pack 1 already however. Next download the SATA drivers from the Dell Driver and Download Page.

If you want to slipstream the SATA drivers to the OS disc, you may wish to first, use 7-zip to extract them and secondly use RT-7-Lite

Note: there only seems to be Intel Rapid Storage Technology and no other SATA drives listed on the Inspiron N5110 Drivers and Downloads Page. The CD/DVD drives seem to be firmware only.

Thanks a lot Rick, but the question still stands: how do I install those drivers? I'm plugging the bootable USB with the Windows 7, it starts installation and then asks me to provide a driver for CD/DVD. I've copied the driver to another USB and plugged it, but the system doesn't see the drive.

EgorAnd,

Sorry I hit the send button and forgot you didn't have an OS installed.

Please read...

How to by-pass the Dell Download Manager

Download and install in this order...

Dell System Software ,

Intel HM67 Express Chipset Family ,

Realtek RTS5138 Card Reader , <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Renesas USB3.0 Host Controller ,

Wistron USB3.0-Host Controller ,

Intel Management Engine Interface and Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor Software

Ater you install these drivers, in order, then you can install the other drivers. If the drivers listed above are not installed in order, then rest of the drivers will fail to install.

If you install the Realtek RTL8105E-VB 10/100 Ethernet Controller , then you should be able to connect the computer with the ethernet cable to connect.

Go to Drivers & Downloads in the left column, near the bottom, click on warranty status. There you enter your service tag number, then click on origional configuration. It will tell you the wireless adapter you have installed. Unless you have the paperwork in front of you. Install the wireless adapter next, then install Dell QuickSet, this controls the function key for the Windows mobolity center. (Basically, this controls turning on/off the wireless adapter and bluetooh along with other functions.)

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

EgorAnd,

You can try restarting the computer and press F12 at startup. You can then try to select USB Removable device and the system should work from there.

Unless you have to restart the computer and press F2 at startup. Enter the bios. Look for boot sequence. Make it cd/dvd rom, usb removal devices, hdd hard drive, then network.

Rick, who's having a very interesting MOnday.

Thanks to everyone, I've solved the problem simply by a proper HDD formatting done by Acronis Disk Director. Then the Windows installed with no problems. I'm still confused why it needed the CD/DVD driver, when it was the HDD problem, but I'm happy I've solved the issue.

Hi.

I have the same problem: A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. I f you have a driver floppy disk, CD/DVD or USN Drive, please insert it now.

Can you give me detailed how you succeed?

I`m intresting how do you formatted the HDD.

I count on your help. Thanks!

During install "required CD/DVD drive device driver missing"

Confirm the ISO integrity by checking it's HASH against official Windows 7 HASH.

This means that you need F6 drivers or your DVD image is Bad.

The following post by Bummed on the Windows 7 Support Forums details how he got past this:

Ok, so after three days of trying and fighting with the install I have WIN7 RC 7100 64bit up and running.
Seeing as a lot of people had the CD/DVD driver missing error that I was stuck with I'll list the steps that I took to get it to run. Before I did anything, I downloaded a free copy of Hiren's Boot Disc with Keyboard Patch just in case I had any issues (freeware and fairly easy to find if you google it). I only ended up using it for the DOS prompt but hey-ho...
Some of these steps may seem redundant but ultimately it was what got the OS running for me:
1. Partition and reformat HD from DOS with the FDISK and FORMAT C: commands
2. Install a version of Vista 64bit which, in-turn, re-partitioned the drive itself
3. Once Vista was up and running (didn't put in a code since I knew I wouldn't be on it for long) inserted the RC 64bit DVD
4. From the installation window, I ran the on-line compatability check tool
5. It told me that my ITE IT8211 ATA/ATAPI Controller must be updated in order to install
6. Ran Vista Update Wizard which found a new driver for the ITE IT8211 ATA/ATAPI
7. Rebooted Vista 64 to finalize the updates (removed the RC DVD Disc while rebooting)
8. Once booted, reinserted the RC DVD, clicked install and went through all the steps of normal installation.
Again, some of this may seem unnecessary (like the FDISK / FORMAT) part, but ultimately it's what worked and from what I experienced, the problem that people seem to be having with the CD/DVD driver not found is that the ITE IT8211 ATA/ATAPI Controller is not up to date. I couldn't find a place to just "download the driver" and put it on a flash drive or something, I had to allow windows to do that which hopefully won't set people back. I'm not savvy enough to know if you can install the driver in another way.
Hope this info is of use to somebody and if anyone has any questions, feel free to leave a message and I'll check it later today.
Big thanks to Amrooz and Java_az who were helping along the way!

Hi! I've recently bought a new Dell Inspiron N5110 with NoOS. Now I'm trying to install Windows 7 Professional x64 on it from a USB drive. I've done this a hundred times, but now I'm stuck with a problem. After the installation begins it shows me a message:

A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. I f you have a driver floppy disk, CD/DVD or USN Drive, please insert it now.

I've tried to google for answers on this problem, the only thing I've found is that the laptop doesn't have any SATA drivers installed and wants me to install some. However, I can't figure out how to do this. The system doesn't see another USB drive with drivers on it, and if I copy drivers to the root of the USB from which I'm booting it also fails to find the drivers.
How can I resolve my problem? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!
