But who really knows about it? Only people in the forms, and people that work at Dell is the majority. I called my EPP rep at Dell and he swore that his manager and himself had never heard of a Inspiron XPS.  I then called the rep I always order pcs for my organization for and got the 411.

debian75, you have to remember that not everyone knows... the subset of people who know that Dell is coming out with these 2 models, and who go on the internet to check out the news on them, is really, really small in the grand scheme of things. Most of Dell's customers just call them up, or go online, and buy the system they need right now... they don't know anything about release schedules for upgrades.

Omnguyen281, that sounds cool. But you would think the pdf manual we have been shown today it would give the instructions on how to do that. Plus, it just looks still more difficult then a typical upgrade a memory or hard drive. (No bay under the laptop) I don't think dell will offer such a service.  But I sure hope I'm wrong.

its a service, not just shipping out cards.  service entails a onsite technician also  this is not the same thing as alienware.

Again I hope I'm wrong. But they could have at least made the process easyer for these A+ techs that would come to your house. The instructions say one must:
1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" (see page 99).
2 Remove the center hinge cover (see page 117).
3 Remove the keyboard (see page 110).
4 Remove the display assembly (see page 119).
5 Remove the keyboard bracket (see page 114).
6 Remove the four M2.5 x 6-mm screws from the video card.
display latch
M2 x 4-mm screws (2)
Adding and Replacing Parts 125
7 Lift up the video card to remove it.

and then put humpty dumpty back together again. If you look at the list of things you have to do for all the above like remove display assymbly, etc, just makes me think a highschool grad A+ tech would pee in their pants.

what happens when your mobo, prob, vid card, or whatever else goes bad in your pc and you have onsite service?  dell sends out a tech with the part.  same principle only your vid card wont be bad =0)  besides it not as hard as you might think (i know that for a fact )

I agree with Spiked. This isn't like the kinda crowd that looks out for the next version of a Gaming system. There is news about it a year in advance, many and many unofficial sites with all kinda of FAQ’s and rumors.
Even though. I would love to see an unofficial site on the xps :) (Some web developer here, go get to work on it) :)

LOL! I swear, I was thinking of the perfect way to describe how it looks, and that is it! Overall I don't think its too bad..... and as I mentioned earlier, its not as big as the pictures lead you to believe (the specs say its 5.06cm high compared to the i8500/ i8600 at 3.8cm). Ne'way, as cool as the specs are, I won't be jumping on that bandwagon, because as far as I'm concerned its not mobile anymore (my i8500 was skating on thin ice concerning portability for me)...... plus I love my i8500, once I'm able to put an 9600Pro in there (fingers crossed) I'll be content.
