OLD projectors may not work at all unless the resolution is set to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 max.

Thanks for your advice. However, it didn't work and the projector which I was trying to use is not an old projector. It has HDMI input but I need to use the mini display port output from my laptop during travel and presentation abroad.

I have exactly the same problem, and as Steve Keen is suggesting I think Dell should answer and help us fix this problem, how can these guys just don't care!!!

Hmm, just bought an Apple mini display to VGA and indeed: it does not work. So it seems like I will need to buy a new non-branded one. Why doesn't Dell supply one that works? The removes the port so it is only fair they supply the converter (like Apple does). Anyone interested in an Apple mini display to VGA converter?  ;-)

I tried to connect my Dell XPS 15 to a Samsung SyncMastger 732N LCD using a 3rd party Mini DisplayPort to VGA Female Adapter for Mac, but it did not work. When I tried the Dell branded adapter, it worked fine. (I created this post for others who, like myself, come across this discussion while searching for answers to Mini DisplayPort to VGA problems.)

AndyAM - do you have a link for the Dell branded adapter? Like SteveKeen I'm now forced to travel with 2 computers. Dell, we paid a premium price for your computer. Help us solve our problem!

Yes, that one looks just fine. The mini display tot VGA adaptor from Apple (I initially bought) is the one (may be the only one) that does not work. Any non-branded adaptor seems to work. I just bought the cheapest one then I could find on the web and it works on all devices so far. So, surely this adaptor from the DELL site should work. Finally you can stop carrying two laptops around. :emotion-1:

Just received it today and it won't plug into the display port on the back of my computer. Tech chat has been absolutely no help. Dell is calling me soon. I doubt they can help me over the phone. Not sure why I can get it to plug in. It looks like it should fit fine but I don't want to force it.

I have the same problem, I bought a generic adapter and it won't fit. Have you had any luck sorting this issue?

Dear all, I bought a HDMI to HDMI cable and successfully used it to connect to monitors or lcd displays. It displays automatically whenever connection is made. However, when I use it to connect to a projector, there is no response at all. I tried: 1. extended and duplicate modes 2. updated intel HD graphics and nVidia GT 525m 3. restore the driver from dell website 4. windows update on drivers 5. updated nVidia driver from nVidia website 6. tried 2 projectors Can anyone assist in my issue?
