2408WFP vertical lines

Question

Hello there, like many other owners of a 2408WFP Monitor I am also experiencing the problem of vertical colored (some even black) lines on the right side of my panel.  The problem started almost year ago, with only one line apppearing when I switched on the monitor. The line disappeared after a few minutes and was gone for a few weeks so it didn't bother me much. But after a while the line came back, stayed longer and also other lines appeared. I knew by then, that this can't be good and will only get worse, but my warranty was already expired by then (april 4th, 2011). So I put up with it as it was only a problem when i just switched the monitor on from cold, after it heated up the lines always disappeared. Well, at least up until recently... The problem got progressively worse and more lines appeared, but now I recognized that one line won't even disappear after the monitor was running for hours. Considering the cultivating nature of this defect, my fear is that I will end up with multiple persistent lines soon. :emotion-6: My question now is, if there is anything left for me to do except for slowly waiting for my monitor to die a striped death? I know my warranty is expired, which is especially bothersome because when the problem appeared for the first time it was still within warranty, I just didn't realize the seriousness of the issue by that time because the line simply disappeared. I was always really proud of my 2408WFP and very satisfied with the image quality, seeing it slowly die after not even 4 years is really sad, particularly because it's obviously a manufacturing defect, as so many other people are having the exact same problem. I want to add that this is definitely a monitor defect, I tried several different devices for video input and also the conditioning mode. The lines appear regardless.

Once out of warranty, we cannot exchange a monitor. We not repair monitors or sell internal monitor components. We simply replace them while under warranty. You can try these 3rd party repair sites:

Hi Chris,

My monitor has the same problem - multiple colored vertical lines appear on the right of the panel. They appear when the monitor is cold booted and they always disappear when the panel is heated up.

When the monitor was within warranty, I thought that it was a temporary issue and it would go away. The issue is still persisting and I am out of warranty now.

What shall I do? Do I send a message to you with the following information -

1) Link to the picture

2) Monitor 20 digit Serial PPID number

3) Dell Order number

4) Shipping address, email address, phone number

5) Does the monitor pass the self test (Y/N)
