Inspiron 1564 Screen Problems

My Inspiron 1564 laptop is having screen problems that keep getting worse. It's been going on for a while now - a year or so - but when it first started it only happened every once in a while, and now it happens very frequently. The screen will get a line or lots of lines in it, and then start to get more and more faded, until it's almost all white. The screen picture is frozen, but the computer is still working, just the screen doesn't change. If I physically move the screen around, it will usually fix eventually. It is super annoying and I am worried that one time it's going to happen and I won't be able to get it to switch back. Has anyone else had this issue, and is there anything to do about it? My computer is very well taken care of and I've only had it for about a year and a half.

Attach an external monitor.  If the same thing shows there, you've a mainboard problem.  If not, it's the display panel that's the problem.
