Buying Dell 1505 PCI-e Wifi card for non-Dell PC?

I've been trying to figure this out for several days now, so I figured I'd join here and ask...

I'm considering buying a Dell 1505 PCI-e Wifi card for an extra PC I have. The movable external antenna is my main reason for interest in it. I've seen numerous good reviews about the antenna performance. Also, I like the config software these cards use (I've used it several times on PCs I've fixed for others, and Dell's software is the only OEM WiFi control software I've actually enjoyed using :emotion-1: )

I'm looking at part 430-2757 from the Dell site. (I'd post a link to it, but the forum won't let me...), and I have a few questions about it.

First, the form factor shown on the product listing for the 1505 PCI-e card says "Plug-in card - Low Profile". What is "Low profile" referring to, the card height or the metal bracket height? The picture makes me think it's a half-height card with a regular bracket. I'm looking to put it in a standard ATX PC case.

Second, is the antenna included with the item I referenced above? Picture would indicate so, but "What's in the box" makes no mention of the antenna (just the card and install guide).

Finally, does this item being listed for specific systems matter? I've read a case where the software utility (one of my two reasons for picking it) won't install on PCs it isn't suggested for, even if the 1505 is present. Is there a software release that will run on a standard, non-Dell PC running WinXP?

Thanks in advance for any help!
