Joanne,

Some of the older printers have a feature to align the printheads. Maybe that would help.

That didn't change anything. Still getting off color pictures.

LA girl,

If printing from a Microsoft Word document, sometimes the color can be off.

For better quality photos, the image(s) should have a dpi of 150 or greater.

Try printing something that you know what the colors are supposede to be.

Joanne,

When is this happening? When printing from the computer, copying photos?

Yes, I am using dell series 5 ink cartridges. I followed your instructions. Alignment page looks ok. Then, I changed out the black ink with photo ink and did the alignment again. Looks totally different. Don't know what this one is supposed to look like. I am still getting off color pictures.!!!

I am printing from my pictures on my computer. The color of the photo on my computer does not match up with the photo in my picture file.  I have been printing things from the internet and my documents, and color quality doesn't matter that much .

Also, could these problems have to do with the printer driver?

LA girl,

Are you using Dell Series 5 ink cartridges?

Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has.

Power on the printer. Open the printer and take out the Dell Series 5 Black cartridge. make sure all the tape is off the cartridge and put the cartridge back in. Now do the same for the Dell Series 5 color cartridge.

Close the printer. It should print an alignment page. Any error messages?

Black cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)

Photo cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

If these ink cartridges are new, then take them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacements. If they're old, then try purchasing a new Dell Series 5 ink cartridge.

Joanne,

Try reinstalling the printer following these instructions.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.
Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista
Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Thanks, Rick. I got tired of fooling with this printer. Ordered a new Dell V715 AIO printer. Hope this will perform well.

Joanne,

Sorry to hear that. I do have the Dell V715w Wireless Printer and it works well using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11.

I keep it on Eco-Mode and have it print on both sides.

If you need help with installing, please let me know.
