I have a problem with the 8 beeps for a display issue as well.  When under service it was sent to Dell twice and was serviced for this issue.  For the third time a Dell tech came out and replaced the display.  It worked for a couple of months and then failed again.  I have been using it with an external display and had no issues except the beep that is constant.  It is loudest on bootup but then continues all day while I am using it.  Is there any way to shut the beep codes off?

I had the same problem when I fell asleep and my laptop fell from about 13 inches, It started beeping 8 times, but i connected to external monitor it worked fine, so I took it apart and I noticed the lcd cable was pulled from a corner in the part that connects to the Motherboard......plugged it in correctly and it workde again.

Hi Roshan,

I am facing the 8 beep error on my Inspiron N5010 with black screen. I tried the D with switch off button it didn't work or show the colors. What can I do to try to switch it on?

Hi JNESSHRMS,

I am also having the same issue on Dell Inspiron N5110, like you.

1. I got 8 beep sound code, but my laptop is working in an external monitor or TV using VGA / HDMI.

2. I can see the solid colors when I press 'D' and Power Button, which is a sign of my LCD is good.

3. Now, can you advise, what I need to do myself? Do I need to replace the display cable? I have tried couple of times reseating the LCD Cable and Bezel as well.

Please advise.

Thanks!

I have a Inspiron N5110 which beeps 8 times on start up. It repeats these 8 beeps three times during power up. The windows run normally but there is slight 8 beep sound in the background. Not sure what to do. I purchased this system a year ago. Any suggestions about trouble shooting the problem,

Thanks in advance,

Eight beeps is a display error..Windoze is working as usual, have you tried to stream video or play a graphics intensive game? May be a problem with the video card, but I kind of doubt it.

It is in truth, in my opinion, the cable from the motherboard to the monitor.  Dell attempted to repair it 3 times.  I shipped it in twice and they sent a tech to replace the display the third time.  The display is unusable and I have to use it with an external monitor.  That is fine as I am using it on my desk.  What I was looking for was a way to disable the beeps on boot up.  Some times it continues to beep at a very low level after booting up.  Thanks for your reply and your attempt to help.

I have done the 'D' Key test and this is the result. On the system, there is no difference, no change in the beeping and no display. But when an external monitor is connected, no beeping and there is just the lights on the screen and nothing else. What is the next step?

I started to experienced with my LCD is screen, it basically started to malfunction, so I decide to replaced it with a new one.  Once installed the 8 beeping sound started as the Laptop was going through POST.  So, I tried the key board combination with no avail. I just took it apart once again and re-seated the video cable connection (cable to LCD screen) beeping issue fixed.
