I have Roku. It is its own entity and does not require a PC to operate.

Look for a VGA/PC port on the Sony TV. That is your only option where you don't have to buy more equipment.

Thank you Ieee488    I actually would prefer to buy either a DVD player or a box of some sort so I could just use it and not have run wires across the room.  I'm not sure what I need to get though as the PC isn't wireless.  Would I need to set up a router to be able to run one of the boxes that are used for streaming movies to the TV?

Have no clue what you are talking about the DVD player whatever.

With your present laptop, you can't stream anything from the laptop to the TV. You'll need to buy a new more expensive laptop capable of WiDi.

Hi Lee,

Sorry for the confusion. by saying I wanted to get a DVD or some other sorta box to use to stream I meant something such as Roku or an Xbox etc.  I dont have a laptop. I have the dell xpx 410 desk top. It is not wireless that is why I was asking if I would need to set a router up to the PC in order to be able to run a Roku box or something similar?    Thanks again for your help.

Jill
