Studio 17 - screen is black but computers boots and functions

Question

After moving our Studio 17 laptop, the screen went black.  I cannot get it to display again. I connected it to our TV with HDMI and can see the screen fine. I opened the case and reseated the memory and vacuumed any dust. Everything appears to work fine, but the screen.  No past symptoms I tried everything on the keyboard...switching the screen from external to internal and brightness etc. Anything else I can try???  Is there a connection for the screen that could be loose?  Or a setting that is forcing it to use an external monitor?

another point. In the past, we connect this computer to our TV using the HDMI port. The laptop screen would go blank. Even when I unplugged the HDMI, the screen would remain blank. I would have to reboot the computer with the HDMI unplugged for it to re-display the screen.

I am thinking there is some setting where the computer isnt sending the signal to the screen?
