Dell Optiplex 7010: 3 Monitor Setup Help

Hello all,

We just received a shipment of Dell Optiplex 7010s with Core i7 3770s @ 3.10 GHz with 16 gigs of RAM and the Intel HD Graphics 4000 chipset.

I am trying to setup 3 monitors, as I had with the old Optiplex 755s and I am having an issue.  All three monitors are detected in Windows and by the Intel configuration utility.  However, when I enable the 3rd display, one of the 3 displays randomly turns off.  As such, I cannot use the 3rd display.

I have 1 Dell E228WFP hooked up via Display Port to DVI, 1 Dell P170S hooked up via Display Port to DVI, and 1 Dell P170S hooked up via VGA.

Has anyone had any luck getting this working?  I have updated to the latest Intel Graphics driver to no luck.

Appreciate any advice you all could give me.

Thanks,

-Mike

Hi, I am using two DP with DVI Connections and one Vga, and still can't get the third monitor going. I can switch between the 3, but cannot display all three at the same time. What do you mean with "OP"? (It seems DVI needs to have active adapters as the OP said.)???

Regards, Zayas

Hi

I have problem with this -  7010 sff.

I have 2x active DP to DVI and 1x  normal vga and  I can use only two monitors, not three at one time :(

Why?

Which embedded graphic processor does your motherboard have? I'm having the same issue but my motherboard has the Intel HD 2500 Graphics embedded into it. I'm thinking that's why I can't get it to work. Dell has an article on how to configure the OptiPlex xx10 and xx20 series system with three monitors but with the HD 4000 Graphics. I can not find any articles for the HD 2500 Graphics.

Two of my monitors have the DisplayPort so I am just using a DisplayPort cable for each monitor which connects directly to the computer. My third monitor is connected with the VGA cable. I have read that people were successful but everyone one of them had the embedded HD 4000 Graphics.
