Dimension 9200 - Local Area Connection - Unidentified Network
OK, the network was working great before I did a BIOS update the other day to the 2.5.3
I have since gone back to the original 2.5.0 in the BIOS Version.

Looking in the [Device Manager], I see that the controller is OK, there is no error or warning on the controller.
So, for the system, it seems to be OK.
I tried another cable, that is working on another system, as well as its router port.
And when I plug it in, the router Number cuts off.
So, there is something wrong with the port itself.
I have uninstalled the Ethernet Controller, and then Reinstalled it.
Everything went smoothly, and without issue.
Even got a [GREEN Check] signifying that the installation was a success.
However, it still showing:

Any idea's on what is going on with this Ethernet Controller?

To add to this.
(This system is a Windows 7 64 Bit system)
I ran the [Troubleshoot problems]
And then the [Network Adapter]
And it is telling me to simply plug in the Ethernet Cable.
So, it is not recognizing that there is even a cable attached.
Also, I have done some checking, and it seems that this system is really bad for this happening.
And that the only way around it, was to purchase a USB Ethernet Adapter to connect with.
(Also, these issues are with XP, Vista, and Win7, both 32 and 64 Bit systems, that I have found out)
Does anyone have any idea's on this issue?

Does anyone have any idea's on this one, besides changing the Speed and Duplex settings.
It seems that no one knows what it causing this issue.
It really is nerve wrenching to know that this issue has been going on for nearly 5 years, with different models of the DELL brand, and NO ONE knows how to resolve the issue.
It seems that the only thing that people are doing "Today" is swapping out for a USB Card instead.
And back when these system's were new, they were having the Motherboards replaced.
And then the ones with the replaced Motherboards, still eventually have the same issue again.
So. I ask DELL Tech Support, if they ever come in here.
What is causing this issue, and what can be done to correct and prevent this issue from happening.

Well, for everything that I have read, when the onboard NIC goes out like this, it causes all the PCI slot NIC to not work, in every forum post that I have read, and I have already tried one of mine, of which is an older card, however Microsoft states that it is 100% compatible with Win7

A reinstall of the windows 7 did not do anything.
So the controller is actually messed up on the board.
So, a new USB Ethernet controller is what I will be getting today.

Lets see, a "Used" board, or a new USB Ethernet Card?

Perhaps a new mainboard would fix the problem?
There are several on eBay, like this one.

If you have a spare slot, I suggest a third party Ethernet card.
I'd try reflashing the BIOS to the latest version and resetting Setup to its defaults. If that doesn't work, I'd try Intel's online chipset identification utility -- perhaps it has an updated driver. If that, too, fails, the third party card is the last option. (That or a replacement motherboard.)
