Dell needs to make an official statement on this issue. Is the driver the fix or the Display hinge kit?

I'm real tired of going in circles, reading forums, downloading drivers. The last Dell tech that worked on my machine resulted in an exchange. Too much work to reload my stuff, too much time wasted.

@NPxps15 Could you provide some hard data (speed tests, download times, etc) regarding this potential fix? Also, what is the exact name of "display hinge kit," so that we may request it, if it is indeed a viable fix?

Finally it looks like Dell is conceding there my be a hardware issue with the wifi and are ACTUALLY providing a proper fix! I have had my laptop for a month and a bit and have been connecting to the router via the ethernet  cable because I really needed the laptop and couldn't afford the downtime of sending it off for repairs.  I'll get in touch with the techies tomorrow and cut to the chase right away before they try to make me go through all the pointless software/driver troubleshooting stuff. Will see...

From a user on Notebook Review:

"I sent out an email to Terry_B at Dell US, saying "Finally a fix", and he replied that he was unaware of a fix or new LCD kit (1/27 - 5:43pm). Since I purchased the L521X, Dell has been horrible with information and fixing this issue, but Terry_B has been pretty straightforward and honest from the beginning..."

Arrggghh.  I'm really getting fed up with the mis-information (or lack of) about this wireless issue.  My L521X may soon find a new life at the bottom of the Mississippi River.  Does Dell monitor these forums?

NPxps15, can you post a service case number, a part number, a picture, a rough crayon drawing on construction paper, something so we can try to get this fix for the rest of us disgruntled Dell customers?

If I hadn't bought this $1600 POS from somewhere other than Dell it would have been returned by now...  I'm always said I wouldn't do it, but I may see a laptop with a piece of fruit on the lid in my near future...

Sorry guys have been busy. I actually thought that since i contacted dell and it only took them 2 days to get back to me and saying they have a suggested fix from engineering that everyone would just be able to ask and they would be told the same.

Okay so my wireless is still good, as good as my other laptops and devices in my house. i also just upgraded my router and with my new router i can now get speeds just as fast as if it was wired. and my XPS 15 also handles this. I am getting my maximum adsl2+ line speed from about 10 metres away and a wall. (but even before my new router my wireless was fine just on the 2.4 ghz and with only 802.11g as it was getting the same speed 10m as it was 10 inchs)

@derekduoba i have no idea about dell US, since i am in Australia but the person i contacted said they contacted engineering and engineering told them what to do, but if the lcd assembly is not a fix the technician must have done something my accident and fixed it.

the technician that installed it called wrote on the receipt that he "replaced lcd Assembly" .

and also on the receipt it has 3 parts listed on it and they are as below. This is all the information i have.

No      Dell Part #       Qty                        DESC                                                    Faulty Part Details

Faulty  RNU  DOA  NPR  POH  Bulky

1         GMXNR             1                GSKT;MET;LVDS;L521X                                  x          x          o        o        o       o

2         GMXNR             1                GSKT;MET;LVDS;L521X                                  x          x          o        o        o       o

3          FTKKN             1                 LCD;15.6FHD;WLAN;TL;ASSY;AUO             x          o         o         o        o       o

i also have the dell 1901 wireless card as well as windows 8 and the latest drivers. I waited to update my router as i wanted a laptop that would work on a *** wireless and after the lcd assembly my xps 15 did. and with my new router i get better wireless then i ever have in my house. the xps gets pretty decent range with my new router, i am yet to test it at my friends houses (where i was getting terrible wireless before the lcd assembly). i hope that i do not run into any more issues with the computer.

i hope that this lcd assembly also fixes everyone elses problems, but for me i instantly loved my computer as soon as the wireless worked before i was wanting to return it, but i only had the laptop and wireless issue for about 3 weeks and once i contacted dell got back to me pretty quickly and always got straight through on the phone, so if i had more trouble i would probably wouldnt be as happy.

Hello, I'm a prospective buyer of this notebook.
I'm surprised anyone still posting after NPXPS15 response.
It's official that Dell changes the screen when you call for service with the problem?

Thanks everyone, sorry for the google translate

Does this mean that Dell will start building the XPS15 with the new lcd/antenna configuration ?

It does not appear that there has been an official response regarding the alleged fix from Dell as of yet. In fact, a Dell representative gave a notebookreview.com user a contradictory response (i.e. There is no fix in place as of yet) just last week.

Here in Brazil we have the same problem and the same response. The support forces us to follow useless protocols. I think they are waiting God send a solution for this or just taking time until the warrantys expires.

I started my purchase in October and finally gave up in January.  All through the process they said I would be able to get my money back... but when It came time for it I had problems (spent 3 hours on the phone one day and two the next, being passed from one person to the next).  I finally got the full refund.  I bought a Lenovo Y580 and it is just fine (and cost a lot less).

I have a brand new xps duo 12 and have the sporadically dropped connections with the WiFi card by Intel 6235 advanced-n. I seem to have tried everything from power management to Bluetooth settings and the issue still randomly occurs. Has there been a solution yet? Any alternatives I can try without compromising the speed and Bluetooth?

New Intel driver for N-6235 fixed my wireless problems after 3 months of effort including new display and two new wireless cards.  today applying the newest driver fixed my problems.
