Call Dell, have the system declared defective and ask for a replacement unit - you can do this within 21 days from shipment.

Hi dr krack,

Welcome to the community.

In this case you can try releasing the static power by using the following steps and then try turning on the system-

Remove the battery as well as the AC Adapter from the system. Press and hold down power button pressed for 10 seconds.

Once done, connect back the AC Adapter and turn on the system. In case it still does not turn on, check the status of the power button LED and the LED on the AC Adapter when connected to the laptop.

Let me know the findings. Glad to be of assistance.

Thanks & Regards

** I am sorry for my bad english . I hope you understand it .

Does the power LED comes on when you press the power button?

answer : no LED . evem if I charge the battery there is no LED on ! no LED on . there are 4 LEDs and all of them off .

When does the system shuts down?

Before 3 days in the middle of work , the screen shutdown and then the laptop shutdown . i tried to turn it on . it turns on once , and then turned off ! since then the laptop will not turn on at all ! :\

Were there any recent hardware or software changes made on the computer?

will , yes . I installed NOD32 ANTIVIRUS . and I installed tuneup utilities . and that was before 2 days before the laptop turned off .

** I am sorry for my bad english . I hope you understand it .

Hello Abed Al-R,

Thank you for replying. There are few steps I would suggest in order to isolate the cause of failure:

  1. Connect the Ac adapter to a known good power outlet.
  2. Check the Power LED indicator on the AC Adapter is on.
  3. If LED is not lit, re-seat brick and cable.
  4. Still no go; try connecting a known good AC Adapter & Power Cord if available.
  5. If LED on the AC Adapter goes off only after connecting to computer, possible motherboard failure.

Please try the steps and write back with results.

Hello Abed Al-R,

Did you try powering on the computer only with the battery connected? If not, disconnect the AC Adapter and try to power on the computer only with the battery connected. I would also request you to try powering on the computer only with the AC Adapter connected. Disconnect the battery and try to power on the computer only with the AC Adapter connected.

If the computer still doesn't power on either with the battery or the AC Adapter, consider replacing the motherboard.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 and #5 is happening to me.

I was using it and it just shut off. I have tried taking out the battery and holding the power button down for 10 and 30 seconds then plugging it back in but nothing is working.

Are there some steps I should follow to resolve this issue?
