Very Stressed out - Intel 3000 and Nvidia GT 550 M

Question

I have been trying to play a couple of games on my Alienware laptop. According to the game makers, my computer is using my intel 3000 graphics card and that is not high enough to play the game. I have a NVIDIA GT 550M in the computer. I guess when I start playing the game it does not switch. I can't figure out how to make it switch. According to what I read it seems that this has been a long on going problem and I can't find a solution anywhere. Is there anyone that might have a possible solution? Thanks

I have done this and I still get a black screen with only sound. Also, I can not alt-tab, alt-escape, or ctrl-alt-delete out of the game, I have to put the laptop to sleep and then turn it back on to get out of the game.

Some games don't work well - or at all - with hybrid video.  Have you checked with the game publisher?

They referred me to NVIDIA's website which sent me here. Kind of avoiding the problem I think.

Sorry its taken me so long to respond. I ran the test and it says yes. All the games I am having trouble with pass on my system.
