but my only concern is. CPU-z say SOCKET 479. I have physically checked the mother board CPU socket, it's says SOCKET mPGA478MN. Is this a problem, does this socket supports Intel T7700. Although my one is also a Vostro 1400, can't there be differences. Please help me.
All Vostro 1400/Inspiron 1420 (same system) have the same socket.
This CPU is available in both pin-grid (socket 478 - what you need) and ball-grid (479). You CANNOT use the ball grid version - these CPUs are designed to be soldered to the mainboard - they cannot be used in a socketed board such as yours.
Thank you very much. It's a pleasure to hear "All Vostro 1400/Inspiron 1420 (same system) have the same socket.". Then I will go for http://goo.gl/Rm9c2

The T7700 is the fastest CPU supported by that system.

Hi,
I suspected this one would work in my laptop – thanks for confirming!
One more question, is the T7500 CPU also compatible?
Thank you
