The Ethernet card is working again. I powered it off and moved it to a different desk so I could lay some papers out. The next time I powered the laptop up, I checked device manager and now have a sixth card show up (Realtec PCI FE Family Controller) instead of the five that were there before. I don't understand why the card is now recognized by the system but I am glad it's working again. I hope this does not become an intermittent problem with the unit.

Thank you for your assistance. Can I download this data to a Win/XP PC, copy to a flash drive and move to the Laptop?

BillN5110,
You should be able to. If the other computer is a Dell computer and you used the Dell download manager, please read How to by-pass the Dell Download Manager

BillN5110,
Try downloading and installing in order, the Dell System Software
Intel HM67 Express Chipset Family and Wistron USB3.0-Host Controller
See it the adapter comes back. If not, is your computer under warranty?

I transferred the files to the Laptop computer. This did not appear to fix the problem. The device manager does not detect the Ethernet card. Any other suggestions?

BillN5110,
Sorry for the delay. long work week.
In the device manager, do you see any yellow exclamation marks or red x's?

Last resort for me would be to try...

Bill,
Glad you got it working! :emotion-21:. Thanks for posting back. Thinking that maybe the controller may not be seated completely.
Take care,
Rick
