1703FP Will Not Keep Video Signal

Question

I have a new 1703FP that arrived today.  The picture will only stay on for about half a second and then disappear.  The 1703FP is running off a Geforce 4 440MX video card in analog mode on XP.  I have swapped out the VGA cable, the power cable, and even put it on another box with a ti4200, and yet I have the same problem. If the monitor shut itself down after post I would assume it to be a windows driver problem, but the picture shows about 1/2 1-second of post.  It then goes on to a new screen which it shows for half a second, then shuts itself down.  This repeats itself until it gets to windows where I have to turn off and restart the monitor every time I want to see the desktop.  The green power light always stays on indicating that the 1703FP is getting a video singnal--it never turns amber to indicate a loss of signal. Does anybody have suggestions as to what can be causing this? I am almost thinking it is an RMA issue.  If you have some questions, please ask! Thanks, -k-

I hope someone will know what is going on and be able to help you. My 1703 is doing osmething similar in that sometimes after logging one of my family out from windows xp, my screen goes blank (albeit the power kight stays on/green) and I have to reboot the entire system to get the monitor to show my desktop again. Sounds like somewhat similar to what you are experiencing. I am also having graphic problems with text being different colors and faded/broken..I am seriously thinking I may need a new monitor and have emailed tech support. I hope your problem gets solved :)

I just ordered the 1703fp the other day and havent recieved it yet.  I hope I dont have these same problems.

nb i have nvidia geforce 5200 with xp running in analogue mode(i'm in the UK)

My problem is similar: inconsistently, when I switch users in Windows XP, my screen will go blank and say 'Analog: no signal' (something like that).  If I just power the monitor off and then on again, everything I get the picture back just fine.  This is an annoyance, but not a major problem.  Any solution yet?
