966 HELP needed

I have a 966 all in one.  I've had it for quite a few years and with several different computer/laptops.  We use it with the wireless adapter and have generally not had any problems...  Currently the main machine it is connected to is a Windows 7 64-bit machine.  My main issue is currently it will not connect to the network in my home.  Anytime I try and go check the settings, it says "network connection in progress. try again later."  I tried to reset all the defaults and settings that didn't help.  I need to print some stuff, but none of the machines can connect to the printer... HELP!

TeachingMomma,

Make and model of your computer and opertaing system. 32-bit or 64-bit? If Windows 7, did the computer come with Windows 7?

Are you using the wireless adapter in the printer or is the printer connected with the usb cable?

What virus program and firewall are you using?

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 580, Windows 64-bit. I don't remember it it came with the windows 7 or I updated.  It shipped from Dell Nov 2010 (I hope that helps you know). I am using the wireless adapter not a usb to this machine (or any machine).  I run webroot as my virus protection and firewall.

TeachingMomma,

It only came with Vista 32-bit or Windows 7 64-bit.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.

Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

If the printer was connected to the network before and worked...

Download the Vista 64-bit drivers. Install the Vista 64-bit drivers in the Vista SP2 Compatibility mode , choose additional computer, network and follow the instructions.

Link to the patch/drivers can be found at...

The problem is with the printer itself I believe.  I've already tried re-installing the drivers.  The reason I think this is because when I try to go to network setup on the printer itself it says "Network connection in progress, please try again later"

When I download these, shouldn't I be using the windows 7 for my machine?  ( I just realized that I missed the 7 on windows 7 64 bit before)

TeachingMomma,

I usually have problems with the 580's USB Ports and have to send the members to the Dell Desktop Forum to help get the USB Ports working.
