"I learned much from this forum..." Good for you!! :emotion-2:
Unfortunately, using a claim of "free speech", many people will attempt to offer help at various internet forums... and some of these, if either unmonitored or lacking sufficient resident experts, will allow it. A user who is infected tends to panic, and will jump at any suggestions offered.
As you correctly noted, combofix and other specialized tools are intended (per their authors stipulation) to be run only under expert supervision. And there's absolutely no justification to suggest that a specialized script --- that was custom-made for one person's problems --- should be copied/used by anyone else.
Fortunately, here at Dell's V/S forum, we have Bugbatter continually monitoring what's happening, and so such nonsense is not tolerated.
We are glad to see when you --- and other people here --- learn about the proper way to do things.
....Somone told them to run many tools that only the pros should have as combofix etc. and copying a script that was designed for someone else and useing. There was one that knew and tryed to explain why you should not use these tools until a expert tells you...... but was ignored
Do not be afraid to name or give a direccion to such forums so that members know where not to look for help.
Most serious forum will have veteran members or moderators who would warn the member seeking help to ignore such advice and to wait for expert help like it is done here, SpywareHammer, Avast!, or BleepingComputers to name just a few. Also they will scold the member given the ill advice help and warn him/her not to do it again.
I have been a member on the Dell forums for over a decade and have learned an awful lot, particularly as to how to stay out of trouble. Many of the really knowledgeable people here have been been long term members also. The width and depth of the collective experience of these fellow users about Dell products and computing in general is amazing. There have been a few individuals over the years who have jumped in and offered to "help" without knowing what they are doing, but they have been admonished or even booted off the forum by the mods in short order. So enjoy your stay here...read and learn, and you will soon learn whose opinions and advice you can trust. :emotion-5:
I've been hear for many years and learned much. I just was looking through the many forums and on nis site seen a post on the happiti nine pages long and while someone was helping many others jumped in telling to do other things. Like on hear in the past someone passing by jumped in confusing not only the one needing help but the helper. But to make mattes worse many others jumped in needing help with the same issue. Poor guy.

If Dell would bring back the Malware Removal Forum so that there would be one trained helper per topic, that would be an improvement.
