Eric,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

This is most likely due to the Windows software not performing a full hardware rediscovery when it resumes from hibernate or suspend mode.  You should update the audio driver with the latest available on the Downloads tab (above).  You may also want to check the vendor's web site for a driver that has not undergone Dell-testing.

There is no driver available from the vendor's website. I have the latest driver installed from Dell as well. It happens occasionally...

Eric,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Make sure that the lid-close button is not pressed down when the LCD will not illuminate.  If this button gets stuck then a hardware replacement must be set up.

For lid problem, no way...

For no-audio problem, i have MANUALLY (by file name) found SIGMATEL A09 driver, that remove rumors, but i have not tested for standby.
If i insert my service tag, audio drivers are A05 version (!)... also problems with database?

Bob,

That "solution" is hardly one. Because, there are other issues associated with standby with the 5150 from DELL.

Fuzzo,

Let me know if the new drivers work... I could only find the A07 drivers updated on 3/3/2004... Also, I noticed that there is a new BIOS update for our Laptop (5150) released a few days ago... I'm at work and cant test it yet but I will when I get home...

thanks,

Eric

Hi unhappy users...
now you can be more unhappy because i have tested "new" non-documented-by-service-tag A09 Audio Drivers!
This drivers not work... when I come out from standby, no sound
I think Dell won't work for resolve this problems (no sound, nothing to do if we close the lid) because our 5150 is an older product, with no more commercial value.
I think if this problems will not resolve quickly, I not buy or tell my friends for Dell product, because the technical support is very very bad.
Sorry for my English...

Hi I had the same problem as you but I found this thread on this forum that actually solves this problem. The fix is the third post from the top by TechnoSavey. I just tried it about 5 minutes ago and it works like a charm.

I hope it works for you too.
