Trouble with 1400 internal WLAN card in Insprion 8600

Question

I use a 3com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Cable/DSL Gateway to connect 3 Dell Inspiron laptops: two 1100s and an 8600. The 1100s have the 1300 WLAN PC cards.  The 8600 has the 1400. All three computers run WinXPPro, and have the latest drivers for the WLAN cards.  The machines were all purchaed within the last 30 days. The two 1100s connect with a rock-solid 54MB/s rate and STAY at that rate as I move around the same floor in the house.  No connectivity issues at all. The 8600, however, has issues.  It will start out with a solid 54MB/s connection and will function just fine.  After about 10 minutes, the connection speed starts to drop down through the tiers and ends up at 1MB/s.  However, there is NO network connectivity at that point.  I have tried this sitting 3 feet from the 3com gateway, as well as sitting 25 feet from the gateway.  I have tried it with the 1100s on and off.  Same behaviour.  The 1400 starts off strong, then just craters. Any ideas? Thanks.

Same problem here. After upgrading the card to the TrueMobile 1300, I've been able to stay connected a lot longer.

Wow, so I'm not the only one.  I am experiencing exactly the same problem.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  I see that buying another card seems to have solved the problem, but I just purchased this computer with this card and am hoping that going out and buying another card is not the only solution.
