I have the same problem with my N5110 freezing. I saw some new windows 8 1701 drivers posted for download on 3rd January and installed them but still have the same problem with the PC freezing.
I am facing same issue here and that still remains un solved . I am having a genuine copy on Windows 8 Enterprise 64 Bit, All drivers have been updated including BIOS. There is no driver for Windows 8 32 Bit available too. Chipset drivers ain't available for Windows 8. This is sure a compatibility issue. Dell Support Team has to work on the same.

There is a new Windows 8 driver for the DW1701 card available here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails?driverId=V9MT8
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01049386M/5/DW1701_W8_X00_A00_Setup-V9MT8_ZPE.exe
But there are many reports of users having the same issues with it.
