Some generic brands work, and some don't. You'll still get the low ink message and there is nothing you can do to reset it. I refrain from telling which brands, in case they don't work. I hope you understand the reason. Let me know how things are going.

After doing some searching on this site, I think I found my answer. There are some brands that work well.
There is also the refilling possibility. I am going to do the refilling, since I need to order a new print head anyway.
If the refill ink ruins the old printhead, so what.
One color is streaky. I will let you know how that goes.
Any other info is appreciated.
