I have a suggestion that may prove helpful. Try activating the administrator account by accessing the command prompt. Please follow these steps:
1. Click Start 2. Type CMD in the Start search field 3. Click on Command Prompt under search results 4. Type the following command net user administrator /active:yes 5. Hit enter 6. The command will be executed
Now, reboot the system and at the login screen you will see an option to sign-in through the admin account. Check if you still have issues while in the admin account and please keep me posted.
Vishal i did what you suggested but i am already the administrator on the computer so i don't see how that would help. I have not had any problems since the other day now but i haven't really tested it yet so i will get back to you. And jimco thanks for the info but i did find that already and i do not know how to turn off my ssd accelerating and i don't know if i want to....
I have JUST purchased Inspirion 17R SE like 6hours ago,
And just as I have started and PLUGGED in laptop to AC power the Sub-woofer SkullCandy started some kind of screechy noise (like some one is blowing in to the speaker) or sort of radio disturbance.
This problem starts as soon as I use AC power, and some times even with out the AC
this is VERY strange because I have this laptop for like 10hours now and already it has problems
Dell UK promised to "check it" out on Monday and replace anything that was faulty OR give me new unit (or refund)
Any predictions from someone ?? Why is this happening
P.s / and on the side note. How do you update Your Nvidia drivers? U use dell or Nvidia drivers
Yeah your problem seems to be happening more than the problem i've been having. Most likely they will fix your problem because most people who have done the same said all they have to do is replace something with the AC plug in.
Well i cannot tell if it does it in BIOS mode because it happens at completely random times while i'm playing some kind of audio from what i can tell. And no it happens weather its plugged in or not.
At this point I would suggest you to check if you are facing this issue in the Setup (BIOS) mode. Please reboot the system and tap on the F2 key at the Dell Logo screen to access system BIOS. Also, does this issue occur while you have the AC adaptor plugged in or it happens without the AC adaptor as well?
Please provide me your system’s Service Tag and name on the account in a Private message so that I can take your case
Before we proceed with troubleshooting, would request you to provide below mentioned information:
1: Do you hear scratchy sound from external speaker as well? 2: Do you hear the scratchy sound when the ac adapter is disconnected? 3: What are the IDT driver version (Audio) & the BIOS version on the system?
Please follow the steps below to know the same: Start >>Search >> Type in "Dxdiag". It would open up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window.
Under the system tab you would find the BIOS Version installed on the system as shown in Image 1 and once you select the Sound Tab you would be able to know the IDT driver version installed on the system as shown in the Image 2.
Yes i do hear the sound from the external speaker, if by external speaker you mean the speakers on the computer. Yes i have heard it happen when it is not plugged in. And the versions are as follows: BIOS- Default System BIOS and IDT- 6.10.6388.0000(English)
You described your problem as scratchy? It is not a hissing by any chance? I updated the Choppy/Skippy Audio FAQ today. A lot of people with your model have reported a random hissing noise right out of the box. They seem to have all gotten the laptops fixed but it involved contacting tech support and getting parts replaced.

Yeah its a scratchy/ stuttering sound from the speakers. Definitely not a hissing sound.
